Cousins BBQ

Maya and I finally made it over to Uncle Tom and Aunt Jen's place to hang out with the fun cousins. Maya soaked up the attention and was extremely thrilled to see their new puppy. She spent a good portion of the evening exclaiming, DAWG, in her perfect southern accent (not sure where she gets that but she switches from a southern drawl to an italian version of MA-ma when she wants to get my attention). Above is Maya checking out cousins Audrey and Sean. Audrey told me that Maya is the little sister she always wanted, too cute.
Uncle Tom, Aunt Jen and cousin Jack prepping the fantastic chicken and shrimp. Jack just started high school which is hard to believe.

Backyard Water Wonderland

We can't seem to beat the summer heat in Southern California so instead of fighting it we decided to turn our backyard into a water wonderland. Thanks to David and Aimee, Maya has the perfect ladybug pool, which provided plenty of fun splashing. The water table added to fun and then the sprinkler was the icing on the cake.

Thing 1

Grandma Liz sent Maya this fantastic outfit from Dr. Seuss. And Maya is truly Thing 1, for sure. Here she is running around the house and climbing on everything. Imagine if there was a Thing 2, we might just lose our minds!

Check out this video of Maya as Thing 1.

Getting better

Maya is feeling much better these days, laughing, dancing and singing E-I-E-I-O with Old McDonald. She's been a trooper these last 2 weeks and has decided that the doctor's office is just not a fun place to be and we don't blame her.
Anna and John have settled into their busy schedules of work, school, album, Maya and more Maya. Anna is taking a course in Public Health and Public Policy and should be writing her paper on health disparities and the socioeconomic gradient but is instead busy typing away about Maya (oh well, what else is new). John is working on his next album, a tribute to Chet Baker and is finalizing the arrangements for the 14 tunes. He records in mid-November and is using a trumpet player from New York, Dominick Farinacci. Maya will make a great back-up singer, we are working on scatting now...

Rash #2

Just when we thought we were out of the clear, Maya broke out into yet another rash.  This one looks different than the first one and the doctors are not sure what is going on.  They think the first rash might have been Roseola and that this rash is a reaction to the MMR shot.  Anyone have this issue with their child?  Any thoughts?  We are at a loss but hoping it will all clear up soon.

Maya's MMR

Poor little Maya had quite the week last week. Following 7 days after her MMR shot, Maya developed a fever that lasted 4 days and then she broke out into a rash all over her body. In essence, she looked like she had the measles. Very freaky but it finally went away.

Our little sensitive gal is back into full speed and ready to take the car out for a little spin...
